THE ST. LUKE'S EXPERIENCE

Love, not judgement, is found here.

We are so glad you stopped by.  In this hectic world, we hope you will linger long enough to let your spirit breathe, to find a connection to the Holy and to make friends with others who are seeking to love God, neighbor and self as we discover what it means to follow in the way of Jesus.  It is our hope, as we seek God together, open our hearts to the guiding Spirit and discover the way of Jesus, that this busy corner of Youree Drive and Sand Beach Boulevard will provide a welcoming place of peace, an oasis of hope and an opportunity to be transformed by the grace of God, so that we may carry that grace and love into the world.

THE COMMUNITY

All are welcome.

St. Luke’s United Methodist Church was founded in 1960 on what used to be the growing southern edge of Shreveport.  For 30 years we have been known for our Pumpkin Patch in October, which sells pumpkins raised by our friends in the Navajo nation, and uses all profits to support of a multitude of local community missions and outreach programs.  St. Luke’s has a connection to the recovery community, hosting numerous recovery group meetings each week, where people find hope and healing through the 12 step community.  We are committed to a shared life of worship, prayer and study. All people from all walks of life are welcome, regardless of race, socio-economic status, sexual orientation or background.  We hope you will join us for worship. Come walk our labyrinth and enjoy our prayer garden. Find a Sunday School group to join and participate in our study and fellowship groups, or if there’s need, find one of the weekly 12 step groups to help you.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
— Matthew 11: 28-30
